Music for the End of Time

(Acoustic version 1987)

(For trumpet, trombone, contrabass, and one percussionist.)

(For the much larger version for trombone and

quadraphonic sound completed in 1998 go here.)

This acoustic version was written for the Munich Philharmonic Soloists and was premiered in 1987 in Sapporo Japan as part of a sister city cultural exchange.  The work is in three movements referencing the The Book of Revelation:

I. ...a door was opened in heaven...

II ...as it were of a trumpet talking...

III. ...I will shew thee things that must be hereafter...

The percussion part is for glockenspiel, five tuned drums, and a cyrstal goblet.

To request a free copy of the score and parts contact William Osborne.

Here is a video score.  The performers are:
Jean-François Michel, trumpet
Abbie Conant, trombone
Yoshinori Suzuki, contrabass
Robyn Schulkowsky, percussion

This is a live recording of the 1987 premiere in Sapporo.
