The data in this study was provided by an author who wishes to remain anonymous. It was completed as part of an academic degree. The orchestras listed below are taken from a more comprehensive list of UK based orchestras: ones chosen are a cross section of the larger orchestras in the public eye -- i.e. symphony and opera orchestras. Available information suggests that the UK has one of the highest ratios of women in major orchestras in the world--if not the highest.
